The Abbey of Tongerlo: silence, beauty and Da Vinci

Westerlo

Hostel Boswachtershuis

Westerlo

Once upon a time, there was a quaint hostel on the edge of a forest where an old forest ranger used to live. A place where children now play, gnomes live and dolls can talk.

Abbey of Tongerlo

Westerlo

In the heart of the Kempen lies a place where time seems to stand still: the Abbey of Tongerlo. Since 1130, this Norbertine abbey has been a haven of peace, spirituality and heritage. Walk down the grand linden-lined avenue and discover an impressive domain with centuries-old buildings, a tranquil abbey church and a rich history.
A true highlight is the Da Vinci Museum, home to a rare 16th-century replica of The Last Supper.
Every first Sunday of the month (April to October), you can join a guided tour of the inner courtyard. A guide will walk you through 900 years of history, architecture and monastic life.
