Winterslag: walking through the mining past

Walking in the beautiful surroundings of Genk and catching the atmosphere of its rich coal past: check! This walk in and around Winterslag crosses the former coal mining area and the C-Mine site. The highlight of the hike, and also its highest point, is the Winterslag mine ridge or slagheap, where you can enjoy a great view.

The hike is somewhat challenging because of the slope, but with a good 7 kilometers not too long. Afterwards you can enjoy a drink and a snack in one of the cafes or eateries.
