The rich history of the linen and flax industry in the Lys region is brought to life at Texture. The museum is housed in a former flax warehouse from 1912, a historic building beautifully transformed by architects. The building is "crowned" with a golden roof, a nod to the "Golden River," the Lys. During the linen production process, flax stems were soaked in the river, releasing natural substances that gave the water a yellow-golden hue. The term also refers to the region’s golden years, as the flax industry brought wealth and prosperity to the Lys area.
